One thing that we all have in common on this Earth today is that we are living. The key word there being living. We go about our days doing the act of living differently, but none the less, we are all in some state of existence. Some of us are moving forward, and unfortunately some of us are equally moving backwards. However, I would like to focus on those of us whom are in motion yet standing still. In case you are not familiar with the term “inertia,” I will define this property for you. From the human perspective, inertia simply means the tendency to do nothing or remain the same. If you include the scientific definition, it implies that in this state of being, you will continue the status quo unless acted upon by some outside forces.
As men, our health and well being should be front and center daily. How can we be the rock if we are not solid? How can we be the foundation if we are on shaky ground? How can we keep afloat if we are constantly treading to keep our heads above water? The simple answer to all three of those questions is to make yourself a priority. Improve your physical and mental health to such a degree that you become a force. Force equals mass x acceleration. You are the mass and now it is time to start accelerating. Do not remain motionless. Get yourself healthy and move forward because this world is going full speed ahead with or without you. I would assume that none of us would choose the latter. As Outkast ft. Goodie Mob said, “You need to git up, git out and git something. Don’t let the days of your life pass by” (Southernplayalisticadillacmusik, 1994, Track 12)!
